High Rise Emergency Manual Technical Content

Building Features

In order to produce a manual, a certified company is required by law to perform an in depth on site survey to verify the following life/fire safety features of the building: Fire Control Room, Emergency Assistance Center, Fire Department Connections, Typical Floor Plan, Stairwell Exits and Signage, Elevator Control Panel and Recall, Generators, Hazardous Materials, Fire Pump, Operations of Control Valves, Operations of Public Address Features, setting and resetting Manual Pull Stations, and verify alarm tone.

Essential Building Staff – Fire

Evaluate the number of available Essential Building Personnel for each shift and designate who will carry out the following:

  1. Assemble at the Emergency Assistance Center (EAC)
  2. Read the Alarm Panel
  3. Notify Fire Department
  4. Start Evacuation
  5. Recall Elevators
  6. Meet the Fire Department
  7. Assemble, Roll Call, Report Special Needs to Fire the Department

Essential Building Staff - Earthquake

Evaluate the number of available Essential Building Personnel for each shift and designate who will carry out the following:

  1. Size up and Communicate Visible Damage
  2. Assemble at the Emergency Assistance Center (EAC)
  3. Start Evacuation or Communicate Otherwise to Occupants
  4. Contact Fire Department (if needed)
  5. Meet the Fire Department
  6. Assemble, Roll Call, Report Special Needs to Fire the Department
